Nominal pitch (striking tone) of the bell: D0 +6/16 with recessed prime D/0 +/0, 293.2 cm Ø, weight approx. 14,100 kg. The mold for the large bell in Magdeburg Cathedral (Germany) is currently being produced at the bell foundry in Innsbruck. The photos show the first mold section, known as the core. The name of the bell is cut out of wax for the bell decoration.
At the beginning of 2024, a complete, pre-installed ringing system consisting of 3 swinging bells with striking hammers and 14 matching chime bells was delivered to China.
It is a very special pleasure and a great honor that the Bellfoundry Grassmayr has been chosen as the winner in the category “Building Culture & Traditional Crafts” by the Burghauptmannschaft Austria.
