History

In more than 100 countries around the world there are bells from the Austrian bellfoundry Grassmayr ringing because of and with the highly specialised church tower technology.

There are numerous different bell ringing cultures in Europe, certainly several hundred. There is a big difference between ringing with a flying clapper or a falling clapper. Famous is the English change ringing, the Slovenian consonant ringing or the Italian hand ringing with bells raised upwards. High ringing, low ringing, ringing regulated by the German Din standard, stop and go ringing with clapper catchers, bell hammers with pulleys ...

Foreign sounds can be unfamiliar, but if you take a closer look at the respective ringing culture, you will learn to appreciate its beauty and uniqueness.

Each ringing culture requires a different bell technique. In addition, the requirements of the tower's natural frequencies and dynamic load values must be taken into account. Europe is also characterized by numerous local engineering companies, mostly small family businesses, each of which knows the special features of its own region and carefully solves the technical challenges. For the Grassmayr bell foundry, it is both a gift and an adventure to work with the various bell technicians and realize special bell projects worldwide.
